Pizza Margarita and Others….

One of my favorite pizzas. Snip off some basil from the indoor herb garden if you have one, this pizza is so fragrant and just delicious!
Pizza Crust:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cups warm water
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp honey
1 tsp sea salt
1 1/4 tsp yeast
Mix and knead until the dough is smooth and shiny. Place in a warm place to rise slightly, about 15 minutes. After it has risen, place the dough on a greased baking sheet and press the dough out to about 12?x16?. Poke holes in the dough with a fork and then bake at 450*F for about 8 minutes. Cool the crust and then wrap up in plastic or foil, refrigerate and save for later.
To use: unwrap the crust, heat oven to 450*F. Place crust on a greased baking sheet. add toppings and bake for about 8-10 minutes or til toppings are melted and golden brown.
To your prebaked crust, add these toppings:
mozzarella cheese
sliced fresh roma tomatoes
fresh oregano, minced
Drizzle with olive oil
Bake til bubbly and crust is golden. When it comes out of the oven, add fresh whole basil leaves, cut and serve.
Mediterranean Pizza:
fresh rosemary
slivered sun-dried tomatoes ( instructions for making your own coming soon)
crumbled feta cheese
sliced black olives
pulled, roasted chicken ( I use the crockpot to roast chickens)
julienned red bell pepper
thinly sliced onions
mozzarella cheese or provolone, shredded or grated
olive oil
Start with the olive oil then add all toppings, leaving the feta cheese for last.
Bake as directed.
Taco Pizza
This is the children’s favorite!
To the pizza crust add:
Shredded cheddar cheese
thinly sliced onions
1 tsp cumin sprinkled over all
fresh parsley, minced
Deep Dish Pizza ~ my children’s favorite
Makes one 10 inch pizza
Crust Recipe:
- 2 packages rapid rise dry yeast
- 2 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 5 1/2 cups flour
In the bowl of a stand mixer, dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the vegetable oil, olive oil, cornmeal, and half of the flour. Beat for 10 minutes. Attach the dough hook and mix in the remaining flour. Knead for several minutes with the mixer. (because the dough is very rich and moist, it would be difficult to do this by hand.)
Remove dough and place on a clean surface. Cover with a large metal bowl and allow to rise until double in bulk. Punch down and allow to rise again. Punch down a second time
Oil a deep-dish pizza pan or use a spring form pan or other deep casserole dish. Place some dough in the pan and push it out to the edges using your fingers. Push the dough up the sides of the oiled pan.
Brown 1 # ground meat, drain, season to taste with salt.
Get your other ingredients ready: We like sliced tomato, cooked onion slices and lots of sliced cheddar cheese for this pizza. You can add mushrooms, olives, herbs, pepper0n, peppers, or whatever you like. But this is for a bunch of kids, so it has kid-friendly ingredients.
Layer in the crust in this order
6 oz sliced cheddar cheese, 1 # cooked meat, onions, tomatoes, 6 ozs pizza or spaghetti sauce, parmesan cheese (any amount you like) and about 3 T olive oil drizzled.
Place in a 425*F oven and bake for 35 - 40 minutes. Serve with forks and lots of napkins.

Those sound wonderful! Maybe just the thing we need on a cold frosty night!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Susan
Thank you, Susan. If you try one of my pizzas, I hope you will let me know how you liked it…. or didn’t LOL!
