A Perfectly Cozy Day… Ramblings

Today has just gotten colder and colder as the day has gone on. Now, the weather folks are calling for winter storm advisory…. whatever that may mean. You never know around here. It probably means ice. So, DH is bringing home kerosene in case the power goes out.
We’ve played monopoly today til we’re weary, not much school because we’re all still recovering from flu and colds. But I have supper on and the house is warm, candles are lit, its clean and just feels so good. The laundry is finally done too and that feels great! You know how after everyone is ill for a while and you just can’t wait to get the house disinfected??? That’s how I’ve felt this week and so glad to have that done.
I’ve made another tea cozy. This one is from a beautiful fabric with pink roses and green leaves. Lovely! I’m learning how to deal with the insulated batting. It doesn’t like to fold and lay down so I have to cut it a little shorter than the actual cozy. I am still crocheting the afghan I started, oh a hundred years ago or something. Every day or two I put a new row on. Eventually it will be finished no doubt.
We’re still planning our garden for this year. We’re collecting wood to make raised beds. We haven’t had raised beds in several years, but this year we want to put in about 8 of them so that we will have more gardening space here at the house and not have to put so much of what we use every day at mil’s house. If we get it done, we will be able to have things like corn and okra here at home. That will be nice too because okra has to be picked every day in the height of summer and corn needs picking when it needs picking. We’ve ordered a big selection of heirloom seeds and we’re anxious to get started!
Its fun to think about gardening when the snow and ice threatens, helps me think warm thoughts
