A Valentine From Me To You

Here is a recipe for my homemade, very un-whole food, delicious and decadent Hot Fudge Sauce…..
Yet another recipe pulled out of the pages of my Mother’s cookbook. This is the best stuff! Pour it on ice cream, brownies, cake, hot milk……..
Hot Fudge Sauce
Makes about 1 1/2 cups
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup light cream or evaporated milk
1/8 tsp coarse salt
1 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients except the vanilla in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a full rolling boil. Boil the mixture for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Allow to cool before storing.
Store covered in the frig for 1 week. To reheat, place the container of sauce in a pan of hot, but not boiling, water and stir and heat til it is of pouring consistency.
I had planned to make this using agave syrup but I don’t have enough left to do that today. Maybe one of you has tried it? Lori?

Oooooh, I will add this to my gotta-make-someday list!
Ooooooh is right. This sounds lovely. Thank you!

Sounds yummy! I wonder if there is all natural alternative to the corn syrup?
Well, since its only a 1/2 cup you might be able to substitute agave…. haven’t tried it though.
