The Crispy Tofu Event
Mar 11th, 2008 by Sylvia
And it really was an event, because DH doesn’t like tofu…. and I told him I was trying a new tofu recipe and he said, “TOE-fuuuuu??” in his best whiny voice.
But I cooked that tofu according to Wardeh’s directions. (I had a chicken breast waiting just in case!)
I ladled it on to a plate.

DH took a few bites. I didn’t say anything, just ate and watched. Two of the younger children turned their noses up at the tofu and tried to pick out the potatoes, but it was really hard to do because both the tofu and the potatoes were cut up the same size!
Then something amazing happened, DH said, “This is good.”
You probably don’t understand the magnitude of those words, he reserves the word “good” for things that really, truly ARE good. So, he liked it :) And then the children tried it. They liked it. DH says that this would be a good meat replacement meal for us to have a COUPLE of times a week! LOL! “OK” I said, “maybe once a week”. I think he’ trying to figure out a way to get more potatoes in his diet.:D
Thank you Wardeh for a tasty recipe. The tofu’s texture did change, but I couldn’t really tell it until it was cooked. DH liked the new texture a lot.

Wow. My dh would NEVER EVEN TRY IT!! Way to go Sylvia. I would really like to try this myself.
I’m like chocolatechic, it’s fufu. But it does look good.
Hope your having a blessed day.

WOW! There is hope… lol! Did you do this to save money or because it was healthier? I am going to look for that recipe!
Love, Karen T.
Karen,
I tried it to replace a meat meal, so basically to save money. The side benefit was that it is very healthy!

I got a giggle because this is the first thing that came to mind! Remember the old cereal commercial?

Hats off to you! I don’t think I would be a be able to accomplish such a feat at this meat-n-taters house!
Wow, Sylvia! I am so, so, so pleased! What a good report! My family is going to be tickled when I tell them what happened at your dinner table.
But I am wondering if your other children were won over by Mark’s positive response?
Here’s the new link to this recipe (since I moved my site): http://suchtreasures.com/2008/02/07/crispy-tofu/

Sylvia, I read through it again because I read your story to my family and I see that your children did like it after hearing Mark’s “good” report. Thanks again for sharing your “good” report!
