Wow, Been Busy
May 17th, 2008 by Sylvia
I’m just taking a break, I’ve been busy cleaning and cooking today. We have company coming tomorrow. I am making that Coconut Cumin Chicken but I will be making in the morning using Wardeh’s oven method instead of the crockpot. If the chicken cooks too long in the crockpot, its over done and falls apart. The oven method should give a tender but firmer product. So I will bake it in the morning for 1 hour, cover it and leave it in a 170*F oven, and then broil it when we get home to brown it up.
I am also making rice, corn bread, green salad with herbs from the garden and green onions, brown beans, lemon chiffon cake and homemade chocolate cake. I decorated the lemon cake like my Mother used to do with thin lemon slices twisted on top and lemon glaze with lemon zest.
I have had the Urban Homekeeper’s Challenge on my mind today. Thinking of ways to share savings and frugality with you
I hope you are not afraid of the way the economy seems to be going. I have a dear, sweet friend who thinks that some ladies may be afraid.
There is absolutely nothing to fear if the Lord God is your God. And on a practical standpoint, if you are properly managing your money, paying off debt or have paid off credit card debt, even if the interest rates get to be 75% , why would you fear? God protects His own when they obey and trust Him. That’s what the Challenge is all about; just taking care of what God has given us, same as we should do no matter what the economy is doing. So, I’m working on getting more ideas together.
Well, the usb cord to my camera is not working correctly so I don’t have any pictures this week. I will need to go get another one soon, so I can share with you! I have enjoyed that camera more than anything I have ever owned. The women at T2CHK ministries bought it for me last year before my missions trip to Jamaica. Who would have ever thought ? I always thank God for that group of ladies.
I have made another apron. That is another thing I need to get pictures of on my site! I really like the fabric, I hope the lady who bought it likes it, too. Those aprons are so nice, they cover your whole dress and have princess lines in the front so they are very flattering and feminine on any figure. I have fabric to make one more for my Esty shop and one more apron to make on order.
We did get to go to some yard sales this morning. I found a brand new pair of egg-shell white sandals that still had the tags on them, an unopened box of lovely recipe cards and a little ceramic rolling pin that have pine cones, red ribbon and chickadees on them ( great Christmas gift), a denim purse for DD#2, a white table cloth, a small electric grinder to grind herbs, an 8×10 gold picture frame and a hair comb with a cameo on it (good for reenacting) all for $6.
The sun is going down now. Mark has put in two rows of green bush beans, squash and okra today. The broccoli is really getting big, it will be producing in another week or so. I got the front flower beds cleaned out and the children got the sidewalks cleaned off after me. Right now they are looking at a fly on the microscope. EWww.
Time to go give the house a final sweep and press a few things for church tomorrow morning. God bless you!

Sounds like a busy but productive day!
