Menu Planning Day
Jul 8th, 2008 by Sylvia

Since I shop on Fridays now I do my planning and list making on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I shop on Friday for the coming week - Saturday through Friday.
I usually plan breakfasts, lunches and suppers so that I can change up which days we have what. I usuall duplicate breakfasts and lunches. As long as I have the appropriate number of each meal, we’re good to go. That way if I have grilled salmon on the menu and it rains one day, I can have it another day and use another supper menu on the rainy day.
Do you plan your menus? If you’d think it might help you be more organized, come join me in planning this week’s menu. I am planning simple, easy to prepare, inexpensive meals this week.
Breakfasts
eggs and toast
english muffins with egg or jam and butter
cereal and fruit
oats and dried fruit
Lunches
lentils and rice
lentil salad and crackers
japanese noodles and vegetables
bento boxes with:
Suppers
Sausage gravy and biscuits, sliced tomatoes.
BBQ chicken (CROCKPOT), mashed garlic potatoes, steamed garden vegetables.
Baked acorn squash with sausage crumbles and brown sugar, couscous.
Chicken in coconut milk, quinoa salad.
Beans, cornbread, fried squash.
Chickpea and tomato soup with rice, homemade crackers, cheese and fruit.
Whole baked fish (tilapia is usually affordable) with tomato, garlic and pepper sauce, fried plantain, rice.

How do you make your seasoned sushi rice? Are you making the rice balls?
No, I usually make seasoned rice by cooking sushi rice in dashino moto and then seasoning it with rice vinegar, a little sugar and a bit of salt.

Everything looks yummy. I hope to put up my menu tonight. We just got back into town last night and I am still thinking of a menu. LOL I need to change my schedule and do like you do, make the plans Saturday through Friday.
It does help me to plan from weekend to weekend. This week we have a meatless week with the exception of the chili shrimp we had Saturday.
