Hot and Busy Saturday
Jul 12th, 2008 by Sylvia
Its really hot and humid here today. I am so glad that I can stay inside and do most of my work. Earlier today I went to a few yard sales looking for some specific things on my list. Here’s what I found:
a gallon sized zip lock bag with brand new greeting cards and note cards, complete with envelopes, a ceramic picture frame all for .50
A gold 8×10 picture frame for .25
Three cardboard Christmas boxes for gifts, beautiful things! For .25 each. These will hold medium sized gifts.
When I got home I worked in the kitchen a while and then headed up to church where I met the other ladies who are going to Jamaica. e packed suitcases with shoes, clothes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, plastic dishes, cups and silver ware. We also worked on putting the craft kits together. That took about 3 hours and we’re still not finished. We got 97 pairs of shoes in one of the bags and still kept it under 50#.
Tomorrow after church we’re meeting again to work on the craft kits and pack some more. We are taking 26 suitcases packed with things for the people we will be ministering to. The Dr is taking 6 so actually we are able to bring 20. We still need to pack men and women’s clothing tomorrow too.
I like the crafts we’re Taking. They are inexpensive, so we were able to take 1200 “kits”. That is a lot of crafting! We’re making foam crosses with stick on flowers and other foam stick ons for the Easter story, heavy cardstock stars to decorate for the Christmas story, a poem and foot prints for the miracles of Jesus story and a salvation bracelet that has the beads shaped like soccer balls for the day of the Salvation message. We’re taking extra plain beads and bracelet kits for the adults, they like crafts, too!
We’ll make Goodie Bags tomorrow too. The first one is made, it has toothbrush and toothpaste in it. The second one has candy and stickers.
Time to get busy cooking and getting my home ready for Sunday. God bless you today!
