The Clean House List ~ For Husbands!
Feb 20th, 2008 by Sylvia
Many years ago I saw somewhere a check list where a husband could simply read and check off the answers to what constituted a clean house in his mind. I lost it so I made up my own and its been very helpful at the T2CHK ministry message board.
What makes this so helpful is that the questions asked are answered separately by the husband and the wife. The husband answers as he likes. But the wife must answer as she thinks her husband will answer.
Then the two lists of questions are compared and discussed. Hopefully, after comparing notes, the quality of the housework will please both.
You may print this out for you own use. If you decide to give it to others, please include this web site and my name on each copy http://www.christianhomekeeper.com Sylvia Britton Thank you!
The List
Remember….. husband answers as he will….its important that he doesn’t hold back!
Wife answers as she Thinks her husband will with no comparing answers until after both are finished.
Print out TWO of these lists, one for husband and one for wife.
Check only One
1.What constitutes a Clean House when you get home from work?
___ Everything in perfect order, dinner ready, kids clean
___ Relaxed wife, dinner, place to sit
___ A path through the house, something to eat, TV working
___ Living room picked up, dinner ready
___ Other ____________________________________________________
2. Most of the time a Good Dinner means to me….
___ At least 4 courses, quiet, well-mannered children
___ Something in the crockpot, somewhere to sit
___ Paper plates and hot dogs
___ Other ___________________________________________________
3. Number these from 1-6, in order of importance (1 being the most important)
___ Clean, rested, relaxed wife
___ Clean, well mannered children
___ Clean house
___ Dinner ready
___ Something besides hotdogs or hamburger helper for dinner
___ Other__________________________________________________
4. Number in order of importance from 1-5
___ A clean kitchen
___ A clean living room
___ A clean bathroom
___ A clean, restful bedroom
___ A clean, inviting eating area
5. An acceptably clean bathroom means………. (check as many as apply)
___ Clean floors, clean commode
___ Clean floors, clean commode, clean sinks
___ Clean floors, commode, sink and tub
___ All of the above plus trash taken out and mirrors clean
6. An acceptably clean living room means…….. (check all that apply)
___ A path through the room and somewhere to sit
___ Everything put away, nothing in the room that doesn’t belong there
___ Everything arranged in an orderly manner, ok for somethings to be in the room that don’t go there.
___ Cluttered is OK as long as I can sit and see TV
After you have answered these questions, husband as he will, wife the way she thinks he will answer, sit down and compare notes. Let me encourage you wives, not to be defensive about your husband’s answers! Be curious, be kind and be willing to manage his home and yours in a way that glorifies God and honors him.
