The World Is Changing - Fast…Do You Have Hope?
May 8th, 2008 by Sylvia
Prices are getting higher, there is no such thing as a “sure thing” economically speaking. Pensions and retirement programs are things of the past for the most part. According to one news source, grocery costs have increased 18% just since December 2007. People are losing their homes in record numbers.
Personally, my grocery bill and gas bill just keeps rising but the pay check stays the same. The tuition at the Christian School rose again, so did the application fee, from $120 to $175. My van and car both need work that I can’t afford. Its harder and harder to feed this bunch well on what we can budget for food. I’m sure you have similar complaints and problems.
But it dawned new and fresh on me this morning: My sovereign God is In Control! Everything is in His capable hands. Why do I fear or worry?
For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.
2 Cor. 1:8-10
The Christian woman has a great HOPE in the Lord. That doesn’t mean we will not have to suffer some deprivations, some hardships or some struggles. It means though that God will only allow us to suffer as it is good for our souls. He will allow us to feel some want so that we can learn that it is He who provides for our needs and that it is on Him who we rely for all things!
So I work at being frugal. I work at being careful with what God has given me. I pray continually that God will bless and take care of this nation, its leaders , my friends and family and myself. I conserve and find good ways to meet The Urban Homekeeper’s Challenge.
I have a hope, I do not fear. Do you have hope?

Of course I have hope! I have faith in my God and His mighty plan!
We are all feeling the pinch at the gas pump and at the grocery checkout. Do I feel pinched? Yes. Do I feel hopeless? No. I think back to my grandparents that survived the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. They survived to be one of the greatest generations of this country. It takes a lot to bring down strong people of strong faith!
